3.5mm jacks are commonly used audio connectors on PC and Apple Mac computers as well as many portable audio devices such as CD and MD players and iPod and MP3 players.

The 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 x RCA phono lead allows connection of these devices to standard RCA line inputs. Similarly, these cables can also be used in reverse for connecting hi-fi system line level outputs to the 3.5mm jack inputs on PCs or portable recorders.
