| S video cables provide a better quality video connection than normal composite video cables. The s-video signal consists of a black & white picture and separate colour signal which are transmitted down the 4 cores of the s video cable and make use of the higher bandwidth available. S-video cables normally use a 4 pin mini din connector. Some PCs are fitted with a 7 pin mini din connector to allow both video in put and output. The 4 pin connector will mate with the 7 pin socket and can be used for s-video output. S-video is sometimes also refered to as YC. |
